May 29, 2008 Local Student Rocks the Vote, Goes to Congress
Sonia Thomas, a student at the North Kansas City Campus of Colorado Technical University, was selected as the winner of the first annual Rock the Vote Essay Contest. “The essay gave students the chance to share their thoughts and reflections on why their vote counts and what it represents, and encouraged them to be creative and to celebrate their vision in crafting their response,” said Peter Correa, President of CTU's North Kansas City Campus. Sonia's prize is the opportunity to represent CTU and the 6th Congressional District of Missouri at the 2008 United States Model House of Representatives in Washington D.C.

May 29, 2008 Caregiver Honored for Service and Acheivement
Sandra Long, a nursing manager at Leavenworth's V.A. Hospital, was recently inducted into the Hall of Fame at Colorado Technical University’s North Kansas City Campus. “Sandra is known to approach life and obstacles with a strong determination and sense of composure; something that makes her unforgettable,” said Eldonna Davis, Director of Career and Student Services. Sandra was chosen from among this year’s nominees for her impact as a role model and her outstanding leadership in the nursing profession. The induction took place during the University's April 19 commencement.

March 27, 2008 Twenty-five Wounded Service Members Receive Full Scholarships to Colorado Tech Online
Twenty-five United States service men and women at Walter Reed Army Medical Center have been awarded full Wounded Warrior Scholarships from Colorado Technical University Online (CTU Online). Recipients were chosen by a ten-person scholarship selection board including former military officers and Career Education Corporation educators and chaired by Tammy Duckworth, Director of the Illinois Department of Veterans' Affairs, a Major in the Illinois Army National Guard, and a Wounded Warrior herself. The recipients, who come from across the country, were honored at a dinner on March 8, 2008, at Walter Reed, which was attended by General Richard A. Cody, the Vice Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army.

February 26, 2008 CTU Earns High Honors From the Council of College and Military Educators
Colorado Technical University (CTU) was recently awarded the prestigious 2007 Institution Award by the Council of College and Military Educators. The honor, awarded for an institution's "dedication, leadership and numerous accomplishments in providing quality voluntary off-duty education programs" to the military, is highly respected in military circles. Greg Mitchell, president of CTU Colorado Springs, received the award on behalf of Colorado Technical University at the CCME symposium held last week in San Francisco.

January 24, 2008 Richard Kettner-Polley, Ph.D. Announced as Dean of Management
Colorado Technical University announces the appointment of Richard Kettner-Polley, Ph.D. (Harvard University) as University Dean of Management with responsibility for management programs across all CTU campuses. Having previously served as Chancellor of CTU's Institute for Advanced Studies, Dr. Kettner-Polley now turns his expertise to the demands of undergraduate, masters and doctoral programs in management across the six ground campuses and the online division.

January 24, 2008 David Leasure, Ph.D. Announced as Chancellor of Colorado Technical University's Institute for Advanced Studies
Colorado Technical University announces the appointment of David Leasure, PhD as Chancellor of its Institute for Advanced Studies. Dr. Leasure served as the dean of doctoral computer science and Senior Vice President for Expansion and International programs after rejoining the university in 2007.

January 24, 2008 Angela Vietti Announced as Director of Admissions of CTU North Kansas City Campus
Colorado Technical University announces the appointment of Angela Vietti as Director of Admissions for its North Kansas City campus. Since 2003, Ms. Vietti has served as Senior Admissions Advisor and, most recently, Assistant Director of Admissions.

December 14, 2007 Peter C. Correa Announced as President of CTU North Kansas City Campus
Colorado Technical University announced the appointment of Peter C. Correa as president of its North Kansas City campus. A retired Army Lieutenant Colonel of 24 years, Correa has served as a dean and professor of business for CTU in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and comes directly to Kansas City from Denver, Colorado where he presently serves as director of CTU's Westminster campus.

September 1, 2007 More than 1,700 Organizations to Participate in Fourth Annual Homeland Security National Preparedness Month
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced today that more than 1,700 national, regional, state, and local organizations will support the department by participating in National Preparedness Month 2007. This campaign occurs annually in September, and encourages Americans to prepare for all types of emergencies in their homes, businesses, schools, and communities. DHS promotes individual emergency preparedness through the Ready Campaign and the department's Citizen Corps Program throughout the year.
