About CTU North Kansas City Campus

The North Kansas City Campus of Colorado Technical University opened its doors in 2005 and is off to a remarkable start. It's already becoming known for offering a wide range of allied health degree programs and diplomas, including Surgical Technology (AAS), Radiography (AAS), Practical Nursing (PN), Healthcare Information Technology (AAS), Medical Assisting (AAS) and Healthcare Management (BS).

CTU North Kansas City also offers a range of degree programs in other disciplines. Eldonna Davis, the college's Director of Career Services explains, "We also offer Associate's and Bachelor's degrees in more traditional university courses of study, such as Business Administration (BS), Information Systems Management (BS), Criminal Justice (BS), and Accounting (BS). As we continue to grow and mature these other programs will no doubt become increasingly important."

The school's population of students is quite diverse, but most are mature men and women who are working in full or part-time positions while attending class. Generally, students are from the Kansas City area, but the school is seeing a small and growing contingent of international attendees.

Students are especially attracted to CTU North Kansas City because its degree programs are clearly focused on applied learning to help ensure practical application in the real world of work. The medical program areas, for example, require externships that are coordinated by the program staff as part of the academic experience.

In addition, small classes allow each student to enjoy focused attention and assistance from the faculty and administration. And the Student Senate takes an active role in providing tutoring, planning events and enabling fellow classmates to share ideas and experiences with one another.

Former campus President Paul Goddard notes that even though the institution is relatively new, its career support service programs are operating at full speed, assisting students with résumés, interviews and weekly career opportunities. An online placement assistance site and on-campus recruiters can help students find non-career as well as career jobs. Because of these efforts, graduates of the school have a good opportunity to find satisfying employment in their chosen professions.
